What is a Reflux Still

When the alcohol, which is in a vapor form, hits the cold water it will turn some of the alcohol back into a liquid and it will drop back into the boiler to be reheated and will rise again. The vapor that got through will be of a higher percentage and a more pure form of alcohol. You are able to produce sometimes close to 100% or 200 proof alcohol. Those people who want to produce this quality should buy or build this kind of unit.

The reflux column is attached to the boiler by flange and collar which can be removed. Temperature is controlled by your heat source under your boiler.

To make really cheap ethanol you will want to burn scrap wood, or anything you can get cheap or free as a fuel source, as well as use a propane burner or hotplate burner.
