(CBS) CHICAGO With the conflict in the Middle East escalating, gas prices are
inching toward $4 per gallon.
As CBS 2's Holly Gregory reports, even though the price of crude oil dropped
overnight Tuesday, a break in gas prices is not expected. With violence raging
in Israel and Lebanon and higher demand for gas in the summer, $4 per gallon is
a very real possibility.
Presently, the average price of regular
gasoline in Cook County is $3.26. At the Shell station at Grand and Ashland,
regular hit $3.45 on Tuesday.
Experts in the petroleum industry say prices are certain to hit $4.
"In the very near future . $4, no question about it," TGS Petroleum's Ted
Spyropoulos.
"A lot of people will be in bankruptcy. A lot of people have foreclosures
because they can't even pay their mortgage," said Spyropoulos.
Ethanol is a renewable fuel, and is pretty much pollution free, since the by-products of combustion are only water and CO2. It is economical to make, and your car will run cooler, faster, and better on ethanol. And, best of all, you don't have to fight wars in the Middle East to protect it. Buy ethanol still!
Plants are the world's best solar collectors. Petroleum is just fossilized solar energy, but in the present, sunlight is stored by plants as starches and sugars. You add yeast which eat sugar and their "waste" product is alcohol. Live yeast converts the sugar into a usable form of energy. We don't have to get rid of our regular combustion engines to use alcohol. The average car can already use 15%-20% ethanol. Simple conversions to existing engines allow you to use up to 85%. Alcohol can give you the same miles per tank of fuel with the same or better acceleration. It produces little pollution, no smog, no heavy hydrocarbons. But best of all, I don't have to buy oil from The Boys and continue to fatten their wallets! Alternative gas, gasoline alternative.

fuel injection technology, which measures the oxygenate content of the fuel. There is usually about a $1000-$1500 surcharge to
purchase these vehicles.
In fact, over 2 million cars per year in the USA already are set up to run on
E85, and no one told us about this. The oil companies know that oil reserves are
dwindling, so the technology is gradually adapting. But you will find very few
gas stations that also supply ethanol.
E85 is 102 octane. It burns clean and is better for the engine because it burns
cooler, with less carbon buildup.

STERLCO® 56-T Temprerature Actuated Valve. Both of the large fuel stills (the FFS and the Charles 803) require the use of an automatic valve in order to regulate the internal reflux temperature of the still. For years the plans have called for a Johnson control valve, V47AA-aC, 2C or V47AB-3C or 4C. However, today, we have another option with the Sterlco type 56T. The Sterlco Type 56T 140-240 is the same thing as a V47AB-4C, however, it is more sensitive to temperature change and will maintain the internal temperature more consistently than the Johnson valve, making it more suitable for column still use. This thermostatic cooling control valve has everything you need for reliable temperature control. The Sterlco® 56-T Temperature Actuated Water Regulating Valve evenly regulates cooling water and other fluids in the most rugged applications.
